Third Time's The Charm

There are a lot of inspirational Pinterest quotes about getting back up after failures (lol @ pinterest quotes), but that’s because they’re so #relatable! Failure is a huge part of life.

I have failed so many times. Personally and professionally and spiritually and everything-ally. Those specific failures do not add up to ME being a failure, though. (All of this also brings up questions like: what is failure? Who defines that? etc. but I’m not tryna get into that rn). Failure does not mean you are bad or wrong. You learn from it and use it next time to help get the outcome you want!

It’s easy to look at our lives and look at the things that we feel like slipped through our hands as a failure, but I want to remind myself and you today that we are not failures! A saying a friend just told me really helped and fits well here: “What’s for you will not pass you” (the only acceptable pinterest quote). Not getting that promotion, getting dumped, or any other rejection was not a failure, it was just not for you. The things that are meant for you will stick when they’re supposed to! It’s our job to not dwell on the things that passed and to keep trying! Eventually we will end up with a picture we love.

I hope your day is sparkly, fun, and full of reassurance that you’re doing such a good job despite whatever “failure” you might be worrying about.

10 Songs To Brighten Any Morning

You all! Hi! How are you this week? For me this week was a little muddier than most. In times of sludge I doubly rely on music to make me dance out of that funk. Here are ten songs that will instantly put you in a good mood. Press play and hop out of bed baby! It’s time to greet the day!

1. This Whole Concert From Anderson .Paak

Anderson .Paak’s whole Tiny Desk Concert is filled with so much joy it would be impossible to not be filled with that same energy after a listen! And as a friend of mine always says: sometimes you want to listen to a song that’s gonna call you a hoe ;). And his SMILE! omg.

2. This Reminder We All Need From Time to Time

Our sweet acting professor from school would remind us after class to keep breathing and the Ariana Grande song “Breathin” is that reminder for us all now. Breathing is a subconscious activity, but sometimes our bodies need a little help. Plus the song in general just fricken’ bops.

3. This Queer Lil Headbanger

We stan a lesbian icon. We also stan the teenage heartbreak rage vibes in “Talia” by King Princess. The chorus will make you need to seriously rock out.

4. This Classic

If “I Want You Back” doesn’t make you immediately dance and smile??? You a Grinch. Straight up. That’s it.

5. This!

Lilly Allen nailed it with “L8 CMMR”. It sounds like, is fun like, and talks about love like it’s a video game. Spectacular!

6. ! Fricken This !!!

Kendrick Lamar is the greatest artist of our generation. The stories he tells through his music are masterful and necessary. Making millions of fans sing along and therefore say “I love myself” over and over with his song “i”? Iconic.

7. This Saucy Anthem

Do yourself a favor and make sure you pay attention to the video for “Touch” by Little Mix. So fun! So flirty! So sexy! These girls are sooo the right vibe with which to start off the day. Bonus points for learning the dance too. If you want to perform it in the club with me apply in the DMs.

8. This KPop Dream

So fun! So cute! So diverse in the video! Amazing!

9. This HAMILTON Masterclass In Joy

“Helpless” from Hamilton sounds like how falling in sweet young lust feels. It literally sounds like flirting with your crush and having them reciprocate feelings! It fills me with a joy that 11 year old me felt when a cute lil dude started grinding on me in a Club 18*. A feeling of knowing you’ve met the one and nothing bad could ever happen again.

10. This Delightful Weirdo

Kimbra! Gets it! “Cameo Lover” is the dance track we deserve! Her alt pop sound hits you right in the funny bone. Plus the lyrics are tres relatables** amiriteladies?

I had the best time putting this list together. Can you say, dance party time? If you want the playlist on the go you can check it out on Spotify! There are some bonus tracks on the Spotify playlist btw. Tell me the songs I need to add on Instagram or Facebook!

FACE MASKS! (An Introduction)

It's time to talk about my truest love: Face Masks. The millennial treat. Pop a mask on and take 15-20 minutes to yourself to relax and pretend that you're fancy. Face masks are my favorite form of self-care for many reasons and the skin benefits with the right mask aren't too shabby either. Let's chat about 'em!

My favorite face mask, you ask? Thank you for asking! My favorite face masks are from Kocostar. I will be doing a full post about my all-time favorite masks from many different brands in the future, but for now, let's talk slices and petals!

I've linked a few of my favorite flavors ;)

Here are the reasons to love these masks: 1) The mask is not one large sheet that doesn't totally fit your face but instead is made up of small sheets that you can place around your face/body and focus in specific areas. 2) They legit look like flower petals!!!!!! Or slices of fruits!!! It's a true treat and it feels like you're in a fancy and romantic spa. It's fun when a mask is pretty enough to selfie in. 3) They make my skin feel amazing. The formulas are great and I really feel like they do what they say they're going to do!

Taking time out of your week to do a little something nice for yourself is important! And if you need more of an excuse to do one, it's scientifically proven that putting wet things on a face calms us down. It's called "Mammalian Diving Response" and it's why we love swimming and showering and bathing and those flotation pod things! It's necessary for your mental health as a human being tbh.

Lemme know if you'd like to read about more mask recommendations from me, and tag me in your petal mask selfies if you try them! I'd love to see!
